Musical Theater Classes

Musical Theater 1 (Elementary School students)

This class, co-taught by director Pam Kinter and choreographer Amy Shope, develops the skills necessary for students to excel onstage. Weekly classes will see how the components of musical theater - acting, dance, and music - work together to create fun characters and plots. Sutdents will work on character development, voice projection, strength and coordination, and learning how to sing and dance at the same time. Some classes will be focused on improvisation to help students build their imaginations and creativity. All students will perform in the June Cabaret.

Musical Theater 2 (Middle School/High School students)

This class, taught by director Pam Kinter, continues to develop skills any student will need for successful auditions and performances. Weekly classes will explore monologues, solos, choreography, character development, and improvisation. Students will also learn the fundamentals of developing a script, creating choreography, and the technical aspects of theater (theater vocabulary, lighting design, set design, costumes, etc.) Students will perform in the June Cabaret.

Rising Stars Musical Production - Winnie the Pooh KIDS (K-3rd graders)

This full-year class will teach young students how to act, sing, and dance onstage! They will work on Winnie the Pooh, KIDS, to be performed March 15th and 16th, 2019, as well as work on small scenes and songs throughout the year to be performed in the June Cabaret. All students welcome!

Madagascar JR (4th-7th graders)

This class will work on Madagascar JR! Students will learn blocking, choreography, and music leading up to a final performance April 12th-14th, 2019. Extra Saturday rehearsals will be required. All students welcome! 

Freaky Friday (8th-12th graders)

This class will perform Freaky Friday: A New Musical, January 25th-27th, 2019. Students will work on character development, advanced choreography, and music leading up to a final performance weekend. Extra Saturday rehearsals will be required. All students welcome!
